This is the 12th petal snapshots of spring 2024. And today I want to talk about overcoming impostor syndrome. So yesterday was quite a productive day. All in. I went into it kind of a few ideas of what needs to be done as the day progressed. A couple of moments where I thought, well, I just need to make some decisions here or get something. Now, typically, some of these actions or decisions needs to come from somewhere else, from people in different roles, in different teams, in more senior roles as well. And in my personal experience, I've generally struggled to kind of go into those conversations, maybe, I fear maybe through previous experiences or just kind of the circumstances that are set up around you. But when I had a quick one to one with my manager in the morning, I asked him, I was like, look, is there any reasons I should maybe hesitate or slow down? It was just like, no going for it. So I did. And so I reached out to a few different people, got some decisions made straight away, like within a few hours, which, again, I was surprised by. Not sure why, but it got the results that I wanted. I wanted some decisions made for the day. I wanted to make sure that we could feed back to the rest of the teams what was going on. And it just demonstrated you just need to address those little demons that might happen to that sort of game. Yeah, but what if, what if, should I, should I, shouldn't I just do it? Just give it a go? You've got to be careful. You need to think about how you're going to communicate. Are you using the right channels? Have you got the right message together? I made a capacit mistake with one situation. I went to one person with two topics and the same message on slack number two questions, but they were quite big. Start the topics. And she came back with two answers numbered. So it's fine. But then we realized we need to have conversations. And I admitted, yeah, maybe you should have broken these up into a couple of threads from the start. Let's do that. But at least I got the results I wanted and it was fantastic to kind of feed that back to the team. Yep, we're all good. We're done. So again, going back to my point, overcome that little bit of impostor syndrome, go in for those slightly awkward conversations, but if you have a little bit of hesitation about you, try to have a comment and go in for those conversations that are really struggling. I'm going to stop rambling today and I'll be back tomorrow with some more petals, snapshots.
