Planning ahead with PETALS 👉

Today, I consider the idea of using PETALS as a planning tool as well as a reflecting framework, taking into consideration the balance between all five factors.

This is the 25th petals snapshot of spring 2024, and today I want to talk a little bit about how I can use the Petals framework to plan ahead a little bit more than the typical week and even reflect later on. I've got quite a busy week ahead this week because next week I've got a lot of training and offsite stuff and a conference to attend, so I'll be on minimal time. Plus, I'm taking a holiday the week after that as well, so trying to plan ahead a little bit. We've got a lot of stuff coming up after that and I want to make sure that things are in place before I come back and it's not all chaos over next week while I've got minimal capacity. So anyway, the point being, I started thinking about how the petals framework can be useful to sort of analyze how the week could be. I know because this week's going to be quite intense. My serenity will be challenged at points. I'll be very productive in theory, but there will be a element of teamwork and learning as well, just to make sure that, you know, things are getting done and I'm delegating in the right place and making sure that my whole team are getting involved in certain things. And don't forget the enjoyment. You know, there are going to be elements where it will be tough, but try and enjoy it while you're in the mode. If you're having those difficult conversations, bring some joy to it. If you're, you know, making a thing and you want to reflect and go that was really cool, I really enjoyed that. Always remember the enjoyment as part of your working process. What I like about doing it this way around as well. I've got an idea to think ahead what I think the scores might be so I can predict what my scores might be for the end of the week, then actually do it at the end of the week and see what the differences are like and see if there are any glaringly obvious gaps or how close you might have been. And then in theory, think about how you can reduce that that difference if there are any food for thought. Anyway, just a very loose idea about how to use a petals framework in a slightly different way. Rather than being a reflective tool, think about it as a planning tool as well. I'll be back again tomorrow with more petals snapshots.

Today, I consider the idea of using PETALS as a planning tool as well as a reflecting framework, taking into consideration the balance between all five factors.
