What is your team vision? 🔭

Today is the 8th petal snapshot of spring 2024 and today I want to talk about team visions. Does your team have a team vision? Yesterday we had an exercise in person in the office. We made the most of having the whole team together in the same room and product manager facilitated a session around the team vision. Now this was a product team vision using a template that's readily available out there. It's all in Miro as well. I'll put the link in the show notes and for me, as the engineering manager, the great observation I got to see was the collaboration within the team. What we did, we broke up into three groups, given notepads, post its, shoppies, and each group was given one of these areas to focus on. Five minutes, write down your thoughts. Put it on the board. For me, what was really useful to see was the conversations that they were having, like why do we do what we do? And really bouncing ideas off each other. It was lovely to see that conversation happening, getting the thoughts out of each other. And as the conversations proceeded and progressed over the time slot, it got harder. But obviously that meant that everyone was on a similar page, which is really nice to see. This is only the first stage of the exercise. We are going to revisit this next week again, but as I say, great conversation to have, a great workshop to go through with your team.
